First National Bank and Trust acquires property for new ATM

October 19, 2018

Clinton, Ill., October 24, 2018 – First National Bank and Trust Company, a community bank located in DeWitt County, is pleased to announce its acquisition of additional real estate located at the southeast corner of Van Buren St. and Quincy St. in Clinton, Ill. The currently vacant lot will become the home to a First National Bank and Trust 24-hour drive-up ATM next year.

“We have a long-term commitment to Clinton and we feel this purchase supports our dedication to this community,” said bank President, Josh Shofner.

The new location will feature a modern ATM with easy access from Van Buren St. in a user-friendly layout. The site will also have improved exterior lighting for safety and security.

“We feel this location will provide our clients (and other ATM users) easy and secure access to our machine,” said Shofner. Opportunities to acquire property on one of the most popular streets in Clinton do not happen often. We felt it was a great opportunity for growth and the timing was right given the buyer’s interest in the Grant Street property.”

Along with the land purchase, First National Bank and Trust Company is announcing the sale of the location serving as a separate drive up facility from 1972-2012.

“In late 2017, a decision was made to begin searching for a new home for our existing ATM currently located next to Hardees. Once a future location was identified, we felt it was appropriate to list the Jefferson and Grant property for sale to allow another business to thrive at that location,” said Shofner. “The property has been sold to a local buyer who I am confident will use the building for the economic benefit of Clinton for many years to come.”

It is important to note, that the Jefferson and Grant ATM will continue to operate until First National Bank’s new site is completed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established, but the ATM at the new location should be operational in the summer of 2019.

While the signage may change at 400 W. Jefferson St. in the future once a new business occupies the building, the bank wants to make sure the community knows that ATM will continue to operate until construction is complete at our new location.

First National Bank also owns a 24-hour ATM located on the west side of the main facility at 2 Kelli Court, across from the High School. This machine is unaffected by the changes and will continue to operate indefinitely.
