Josh Shofner named as Board of Director with Illinois Bankers Association

Clinton, IL, July 28, 2026 - Josh Shofner, president of First National Bank and Trust Company, was recently elected to serve on the Illinois Bankers Association (IBA) Board of Directors. As a board member, Shofner will help provide governance, strategic guidance and represent the interest of Illinois community banks for a two-year term.

The Illinois Bankers Association advocates for Illinois banks and provides educational programs, conferences and resources that help member institutions navigate an increasingly complex financial services environment while better serving their customers and communities.

Shofner joined First National Bank and Trust in 2000 after earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois. In 2012, he earned his MBA with a concentration in finance from Illinois State University. During his final semester, he received the program's highest honor, the MBA Distinguished Leadership Award, and then in 2022 graduated from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Shofner has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout his banking career, including consumer and commercial lending, operations, compliance and Bank Secrecy Officer. In 2018, he was named president of First National Bank and Trust, which serves communities through Clinton, Illinois, and locations in Arcadia and Whitehall, Wisconsin.

"Community banks play a vital role in helping local businesses, families and communities thrive. I look forward to working alongside fellow board members to support the banking industry and the clients we serve."

Beyond his professional banking roles, Shofner has contributed significantly to his community with 30 years of municipal leadership. He has been a dedicated Rotarian since 2000 and served as a past board member of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, DeWitt County Economic Development Council and the Clinton Community YMCA. He also currently serves on the Warner Hospital & Health Foundation board and the Sangamon Valley CEO Program.

Shofner and his wife, Charity, reside in Weldon, IL with adult daughter. In his free time, he loves to travel, delve into genealogy, tackle home improvement projects, as well as spend time with family and friends.
