BBBSCIL receives donation

First National Bank and Trust Company Helps Support Local Youth with Big Brothers and Big Sisters Partnership

October 23, 2018

October 22, 2018, Clinton, Ill.- First National Bank and Trust Company is proud to announce a gift of $2,500 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois (BBBSCIL). The recent partnership will help at-risk youth in the local Clinton area.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children facing adversity with strong, enduring, professionally supported 1-2-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. BBBSCIL has been serving underprivileged youth from single-parent families for more than 30 years and serves Macon, McLean, Champaign, DeWitt, Piatt, Ford, Livingston, Iroquois and Vermillion counties.

“Our agency is humbled by the generosity of First National Bank and excited to develop a partnership that will make a difference for more children in Clinton and throughout DeWitt County,” said Corey Burrows, Chief Operating Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois.

The Big Brother Big Sisters mentoring programs help prevent juvenile delinquency and divert at-risk youth to more positive choices. Volunteers can assist with community-based mentoring, where the mentor and child meet outside of school hours in the evenings or weekends. There is also on-site-based mentoring, with a weekly visit during the school day. Screening, training, and ongoing support is required for the mentor and the child’s family.

“Serving our local youth is of high importance to us. We are glad to be a partner and excited several bank employees want to be more involved as well,” said Rachel Costello, VP of Personal Banking of First National Bank and Trust Company.

Since the gift announcement and an onsite bank visit from Big Brothers Big Sisters, several employees have applied as mentors and are awaiting word of their match, to help serve youth in DeWitt County.

Additionally, First National Bank and Trust Company will participate in the Bowl for Kid’s Sake annual fundraiser in 2019. To get involved or learn more about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois visit www.bbbscil.org.
